The Characteristics Of Children's Songs In The 20th Century Of China

The original sources of children's songs production can be dated back to the times of"school music and singing"in the early 20th century, which has covered approximately a hundred years.Children's songs grew out of nothing, which transformed from composing lyrics with the existing music to be able to create not only lyrics but music. In addition, the monotonous music forms became greatly enriched. Different times entrusted children's songs with different meanings and feelings, so no children's songs production can separate from the two backgrounds of times and nations, existing independently.At present, however, researches on the characteristics of children's songs in different stages of 20th century home and aboard are still weak with only a slight mentioning in the contemporary and modern musical history of China or in the works about music education.The present paper takes the social and historical development of China in the 20th century as a background, aiming at studying the developing process of children's songs in China within the one hundred years. It divides the developing stages into three main periods of time, namely, the modern time, the contemporary era and the present times. It attempts to find out the characteristics of children's songs in those stages by analysizing the political and economic background in various historical ages, main creation groups, current thoughts, typical forms of musical works (melodic features of music, origin of melody, characteristics of rhythm, structure of musical forms and so on), expecting to fill in the blank in the study on children's songs of the 20th century from the angle of academic research and discipline construction. Based on analysis and judgment for the reasons why children's songs creation and promotion become increasingly difficult, the author puts forward a series of suggestions for the developing road of children's songs, such as improving the overall quality of creators and promoters, raise the quality of children's songs creation, innovating the traditionally educational methods and strengthen and consummate the related industries of children's songs culture in hope of providing certain theoretical instructions on the prosperity of children's songs in the future.
