| Modal verb is a hard point to Thai students who learn Chinese as a second language,especially for primary level students.It's also a weak point in Chinese research.One reason is that there are many Modal verbs in Chinese.And the use is very complex.But there are a few of Modal verbs in Thai,even only one in spoken language.So they feel difficult when studying.On the other hand,those who studying Chinese grammar have not got deep research in meaning and grammar of the Modal verb.The teaching methods using in the classes are not scientific enough.Those all make students making many errors in sentences.In this paper,starting from the error analysis,we have a more detailed analysis of the level of situation and the reasons for the verb "neng,hui,keyi,yao,xiang,gai, de",in order to make teaching countermeasures effectively and improve teaching materials.The main study method of this paper is investigation.We design translation, selection and the questions about true or false in the questionnaire.The respondent is 50 students whose major is Chinese in Prince of Songkhla University of Thailand. After receiving the language material,we differentiated the collected huge amount of language corpus under the guidance of the basic principles of error analysis on Chinese grammar,discarded those accidental mistakes meanwhile sorted out the examples of general errors and made analysis on them.Starting from the point of foreigners-oriented Chinese teaching,we elaborated on those errors that Chinese native speakers master subconsciously while Thai learners mistake frequently,and provided some concrete limitations to the commonly-used prepositions,hoping to improve Thailand students' applying ability.Additionally,we compared the Thailand modal verb with the Chinese modal verb, and made further comparison among those confusing Chinese modal verb and pointed out the situations of their usages.On the base of error-analysis,we discussed the causes of these errors and pointed out other factors besides the influence of mother tongue,such as insufficient explanation of textbook made by teachers,the teaching effects,and the difficulty of Chinese modal verb.We proposed our suggestions on Chinese teaching as a second language on the basis of the above-mentioned analysis.We hope this analysis can improve the teaching effects and raise the learning efficiency of Thai learners. |
