| This thesis aims to analyze the phraseology on the usage of "le"(了) in the practice of Chinese language by using the "Frame" and "Profile" theory of cognitive linguistics,in order to illustrate that the usage of "le" is the subjective judgment by the speaker on certain situations or incident. This thesis is written in six sections:Section one:Introduction. This paper describes the study, methods, scope and significance of the research.Section two:Past research with regards to the use of "le" We reviewed generally the results of past researches, starting from it being a sign,a completed term,an actualized term,it' s limited functions,to the final turn of it,which refers to "le" being a sign of process transition.Section three:Difference between "le 1" and "le 2".The first part of section three covers previous studies between the two "le", "le 1" referring to completion or fulfilling, and "le 2" referring to new happenings or semantic traits related to current situation. The second part provides a personal point of view with regards to the past studies on whether "le" is a sign to reflect a subjective cognize. i.e."le 1" does not refers to the inherent meaning that verbs, adjectives or other similar terms possess, but refers to a cognitive judgment of the meanings, which means "le 1" is a sign of the speaker' s subjective judgment of an objective situation or matter, whereas "le 2" is a sign of the speaker' s subjective understanding of an objective situation or matter.A restatement of the boundary between "le 1" and "le 2".In Beijing dialect, there are some sentences in which we cannot see the usage of "le 1" It shows that they have gone through a great process of change in linguistic traits. And lastly, list a few examples to show the striking linguistic phenomenon during this process. With the extended understanding of subjective cognize among Chinese speakers, the "le" in a sentence that expressed a subjective cognize domain is expanded to include the actual situation of the object structure, taken not as a shift to front of "le 2",but a shift to rear of "le 1".Section four:The subjectivity expression in the usage of language. This section provides proof of the subjectivity expression in the usage of "le 1" and le 2 ".And through the peculiar phenomenon of sentences with double "le",it attempts to sum up that "le" is a sign of subjective judgment. And then it uses the Fictive Space research method in cognitive linguistic to argue it' s a fact that the usage of "le" in uncompleted sentences is a sign of the speaker' s subjective judgment on an objective situation or matter.Section five:Analysis of associated sentence structure. To proof by using the Frame and Profile research theories in cognitive linguistic that in several Chinese sentence structure, the usage of "le" is a sign of the speaker' s subjective cognize judgment on a specific objective situation or matter.Section six:Conclusion.Conclude a fact through specific associated sentence structure to show that "le" is an expression of subjectivity in the Chinese language. The final conclusion is that in Chinese language, the usage of "le" is a sign of the speaker' s expression of subjective judgment on an objective situation or matter, and naming it as "Subjectification Judgement Marker"... |
