Opera is the perfect mixture of music,drama,literature,singing and music band.In the opera composing,the image-buliding plays an important role.As we know,the image of main character is the core mean to develop dramatic plots and discover the inner world of operas,as well as the important signal to indicate the success of an opera.Among the 12 operas of Puccini,there are seven ones named by heroine,ten operas choose love as their story theme.From all above,we can make a conclusion that the depiction of female image has become one of the greatest uniqueness in the operas by Puccini.This dissertation put focus on Mimi,the leading character in Puccini's opera La Boh(?)me,try to sum up the artistic features and image of this woman in details and comprehensively,as well as explore the deeply understanding of Mimi's image in La Boh(?)me.This dissertation will analyze from the following five aspects:Puccini and his great opera La Boh(?)me,the factors influenced creation of Mimi's image,social status of Mimi,and the dramatic and music images of Mimi.The analysis and research of the image will make every effort to construct a deep,thorough and systematic structure of knowledge.In addition,the main text is divided into two parts:beginning with the analysis of Mimi's social status which includes economical status,marriage status and her health status.They are basis of Mimi's image analysis.The second part will give a comprehensive depiction on Mimi from dramatic and musical image.This part will tell you how composer used dramatic and musical elements to demonstrate Mimi's living situation,love experience and health status in details and to create a classical character image of shy outside but optimistic,obey but strong inside on the stage.
