The protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage is a world-wide popular topic, which reflects the living methods, wisdom and productive skills of our ancestors. The intangible cultural heritages connects the old days of human being and points to a better direction of the future life of human being when we are now suffering from lots of environmental and social problems. Especially today, when cultural industry is gaining momentum, the intangible cultural heritages turn into a deeply-buried cultural treasure and an endless source for the power of cultural industry. However, as a newly-developed principle, the domestic Intangible Cultural Heritage has started with theories not well prepared, but practice already done in many aspects. Therefore, a lot of problem took place during the protection work of many intangible cultural heritages. Based on all the mess about the protection of intangible cultural heritage, this thesis aims to discuss the productive and ingredient protection of intangible cultural heritages. The Intangible Cultural Heritage is a principle which requires experiences and skills in practice, and the thesis just wants to establish a scientific, systematic, practical and efficient way of analysis for this new principle. Coincidently, the study of Cultural Ecology shares a lot of similarities with Intangible Cultural Heritage. The thesis aims to give an explanation to the Cultural Ecology in the special field of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. A conclusion of the definition of Cultural Ecology was drawn through adequate research of the study of cultural ecology both at home and abroad, and the importance of the application of cultural ecology into the protection of intangible cultural heritage was emphasized. In the view of Ecology, the thesis takes culture as a living being, which is like organism in the nature, and studies the relation between the culture and its environment. All the factors that influence the intangible cultural heritage are regarded as the "environment" for the heritage and divided into two parts-the natural part and the human /social part, in which way, the traditional but not-well-organized analysis could be standardized. The analysis of the time and space can be combined more efficiently. The dialectical, scientific and dynamic analysis of cultural ecology was used to study the heritage in the very period of the happening, development and recession.Applying the analysis of the Cultural Ecology to the protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage helps to establish a healthier cultural environment of our country, for only with the variety of cultures, the whole cultural environment can be strong, being able to compete with the globalization. In the 1st Chapter, a precise analysis was done for the development and history for both the principles, and in the end a conclusion is made about the reason why is it sound to join both the two principles and the necessity of joining them together. In the 2nd Chapter, the thesis analyzed a specific case of the handwork of cotton textile of Wu Ni Jing in Shanghai. A complete study was made during the typical 3 courses of this cultural heritage: the happening, developing and recession of the cotton textile. The 3rd Chapter, based on the analysis of the handwork of cotton textile, the thesis gave some suggestion to the urban protection work of the intangible cultural heritage. The whole thesis used a experimental way to study a new principle—the Intangible Cultural Heritage, brought into another scientific way of analysis, which helped to establish a more systematic and efficient way for the protection of the Heritage. All the creations will assist to find a new way of the protection of the domestic culture and traditions.
