A Study On The Source Of Adverbs Of Degree In Modem Chinese

The adverb of degree is an important kind of the adverbs in Modern Chinese.Despite of its many researches in the academic world,the studying focus is mainly put on the adverbs of certain book and single ones,and there are not adequate studies on its source in Modern Chinese on the whole.The thesis,based on previous studies,has a comparatively systematic and comprehensive research on its source by means of synchronic and diachronic ways.There are three parts in the whole thesis:introduction,body, conclusion.The introduction part mainly has a literature review and a discussion of the significance of the thesis.There are six chapters in the body part.Chapter one briefly introduces the setting standards of adverbs of degree,points out the specific scope of the adverbs of degree to be studied.According to the standard set by the scholars of the Tang and the Qing dynasties,it reclassifies them into three types:degree of strength, degree of weakness and degree of comparison.From Chapter two to four, brief studies are given to each lexical entry of the above three kinds. Chapter five collects some typical adverbs of degree with some commonness and has a detailed study on the source of them.Chapter six has a theoretical deliberation of the process of studying the source of the adverbs of degree.The last part,on the basis of the above research,gives a comprehensive conclusion to the source of the adverb of degree.
