| The development of science and technology and the gradation of receivers appreciation both influence the development of animation film industry in the new media times, making it facing new opportunities and challenges. There are two directions covered: (1) Hand-painted animation as a traditional main category and creative form of animation has reduced in the creative number during the rapid development of computer-animation today. (2) While, The "painting language" of the art then making use of the special language in painting form expresses the human idea and emotion along with the human social development. All the artistic expression of painting can be used for the creation of hand-painted animation, animation artists also continuously explore on form and connotation and create brand-new art style.This thesis takes hand-painted animation after the 60s of the twentieth century as a vector. It analyzes the exploring in the art language of the global outstanding animation artists and the film-television feature of hand-painted animation by placing it within the developmental history of art, especially modern visual art, and the evolvement of media culture. By combining the achivement on New Media Art with theories on Aesthetics, the present dissertation puts forwar the idea of treating the relation between Hand-painted animation and new media technique in the becoming many-facsted and mixed perspective but in opposite view. This thesis analyzes the connection points of hand-painted animation with new media technique and its value in the new media times. We inherit tradition while against tradition, so, hand-painted animation in new media times does not violate and overthrow the nature of art. It is not the representative of art' s end, but another new beginning. It embraces a bright future.
