Vocabulary is'building material'of language, and vocabulary learning is crucial to the learning of language. Unfortunately, vocabulary is most difficult part in English teaching in secondary vocational school, according to teachers and students.'Inefficiency and time consuming'is the bottleneck that makes the progress of English teaching quite frustrating in secondary vocational school. Thus, we must have a practical, scientific and effective approach to help students learn the right method to improve their English, reinforce their application consciousness and confidence, cultivate their attitude and ability of self studying .According to a survey on 239 students in Changchun Business Tourism School, it is found that their strategy in English vocabulary learning is of low level, application of strategy is also poor, and they have few opportunities to receive proper training on vocabulary learning strategy. Using existing research results on vocabulary learning strategy, the author gives 38 students,out of the 239, a comprehensive training on vocabulary learning strategy, including'multi-channel input strategy','associating memory strategy', vocabulary formation strategy','guess strategy', and'dictionary strategy'. Experimental results show a remarkable improvement in their English ability after the training.This paper consists of five parts.Part One, preliminary. This part introduces the background, goal, contents, approach, value (both academic and applied), and innovation of the research.Part Two, brief introduction. This part includes three subdivisions, first, introduction of learning strategy and vocabulary learning strategy around the world; second, detailed analysis of theoretical base of this research, including formation learning theory, self adjusting learning theory, non predicting theory, and additional theory; third, definition of concepts of learning strategy, English vocabulary learning strategy, factoring perception strategy, and teaching of learning strategy.Part Three, analysis and investigation of the application of English vocabulary learning strategy in secondary vocational school. First, based on the survey on ChangChun business tourism school, investigating learning attitude, learning strategy, learning strategy application, gender, relevance between learning strategy and performance, perception on the importance of English learning, source of vocabulary learning strategy, seeking to find out weaknesses and advantages of the status quo, and further device some helpful tips for student learner.Part Four, comprehensive discussion on how to cultivate students'practical ability on English learning, trying to help student establish right attitude toward English learning, researching on vocabulary learning strategy to address existing problem in vocabulary learning, and finally pick up five methods to compare and analyze the performance results from experimental class and the comparing class.Part Five, conclusion.
