The development of Chinese oil paintings in the new century has shown a significant tendency of the schematic representation. The schematic representation, schematization, has distinctive characteristics of the contemporary era. A growing number of artists in the creation tend to rational concepts, personal perspective concerns the way individuals plan to explore their own language. Through the analysis of those contemporary Chinese oil paintings with obvious personal schematizations, this paper identifies a phenomenon, which cannot be ignored in the contemporary Chinese fine arts, that is the tendency of the schematization.In general, the article takes the more and more common characteristics of the schematic pattern as the starting point and attempts to answer the following questions. First, what are the current situations of the schematization in contemporary oil paintings, especially when more and more artists have been using a clear kind of schematic language or personal series of prominent theme? Many artists, especially young artists, give the top priority to the pursuit of personal schemata. Statistically it is demonstrated that the schematic creation possesses a large proportion in the field of contemporary oil painting and it is favored by the young artists in particular. Second, this paper tries to dissect the causes of the tendency of schematization. Contemporary art is greatly subject to the social, economic and cultural impacts, which are the root causes of such a tendency. For instance, the rapid development of the economy has made transitions in different aspects of the society, including the consumer culture, the Internet culture, new media art, the restructuring aesthetic standard. The Third is to explore how the artists create a personal schema? The contemporary oil paintings were divided into five categories. By dissecting the most representative works of each type this paper exploits their background and points out that the personal schemata represented by the art works come from the continuous exploring of the artists, and that the tendency of the schematization is the needs of the times, is the true reflection of the current social life.
