Structure Of The Issue About Art Definitions In Contemporary Art Philosophy Of England And America

The issue about definition of art is the core issue in contemporary philosophy of art, the problem of the essence of art has been challenging by avant-garde artistic practice over and over again, it has expanded the scope of art and has changed the nature of art, so that led to the so-called "artistic crisis." Is the art can be defined? Are there have in common among the arts? How do we identify the art? They are have become the central issue in the discussion of contemporary art philosophy.has become issue of philosophy. All of these about discussion are divided into three stages ,the essentialism, anti-essentialism and new-essentialism , by this article, so that the theoretical pedigree about the definition of art has established. From which we can find the purpose of debate about definition of the arts is in order to deel with the challenges by avant-garde, so the task of contemporary art philosophy has become that how do we identify the art and how can we to distinguish the work of artwith ordinary objects? This is the significance to discuss the issue about the definition of art in the philosophy of contemporary art, but also is the reason that I try to reveal the logical structure of this problem.
