The Relationship Between The Political And Ethical Ideology Of Mohist Canon And Mo-tse's Ideology

Mohist Canon,which is contained by Mo-tse,is an important work of Mohist's school.As it is difficult to read,very few scholars had researched on it during two thousand years. After the mid-Qing Dynasty,more and more scholars had started to research on Mohist Canon.Some of them did very well and made a number of outstanding monographs.About the relationship between Mohist Canon and Mo-tse,there are three conclusions:First,some people think that Mohist Canon was written by Mo-tse and the ideology of Mohist Canon is the ideology of Mo-tes;Second, some people think that Mohist Canon was not written by Mo-tse and the ideology of Mohist Canon is not the ideology of Mo-tes;Third,some people think that part of the Mohist Canon were written by Mo-tse and the other parts were written by Mo-tse later followers and the ideology of Mohist Canon is the ideology of the whole Mohist's school.However,which of the above three conclusions are more scientific,we should make a comprehensive research on the relationship between the ideology of Mohist Canon and the Mo-tse's ideology.This thesis chooses political thought and ethical thought as two research points,for the purpose of getting area studies through case studies.Writer checks into the similarities and differences between the political and ethical thought of Mohist Canon and Mo-tse's ideology to clarify the relationship between Mohist Canon and Mo-tse.Besides,writer makes a further study about the author and time of Mohist Canon.The theis is divided into five parts to develop the research: Foreword,Body three chapters and Conclusion.Foreword:It briefly introduces the content and style of Mohist Canon and the general situations of Mohist Canon research.Besides,it illustrates the reason and significance of writer's focus on political and ethical thought;Chapter I :The absorbtion and development which Mohist Canon did to Mo-tse's political ideology.It includes six dimensions:the theory of social history,the viewpoint on similarities and differences,the viewpoint on grade, the theory about the origin of countries,the administration thought and the legal thought;Chapter II :The absorbtion and development which Mohist Canon did to Mo-tse's ethical ideology. It includes three dimensions:the viewpoint on universal love,the viewpoint on justice and interests,the other ethical conceptions (loyalty,filial piety,propriety,faithjuan,lian,ren and yong);Chapter III: Making a speculation about the author and time of Mohist Canon by the relationship between the political and ethical ideology of Mohist Canon and Mo-tse's ideology.Conclusion:It offers a systematic summary on the relationship between the political and ethical ideology of Mohist Canon and Mo-tse's ideology and makes a speculation that the Mohist Canon was written at late Warring State period and the author were Mo-tse later followers.
