Thomas Hardy was an important novelist and poet of the Victorian age. However, his fame chiefly rests upon his creation of the novels of"Character and Environment". Hardy is a writer for transitions and his insights about the future of human beings and society are profound. Far from the Madding Crowd, published in 1874, which was an overwhelming success, marked a turning point in Hardy's literary life and enabled him to earn his living solely by writing from then on.This thesis, enlightened by ecofeminism's study of Thomas Hardy and its turning attention to the relationship between women and nature, will evaluate Far from the Madding Crowd in the light of ecofeminism. Viewing from the perspective of Ecofeminism, this paper interprets nature and women in the novel and practically explores the close relationship between women and nature and women's tragic fate as the result of industrialization and patriarchal society, which will help the reader to understand Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd from a new angle, highlight the rational elements of Hardy's views on nature and women, and reweave a net of life and establish a world interdependent with nature.
