| Background:The suicide is modern society humanity's one of during 10 big causes of death, and already became 15-35 year old of the young people first 3 causes of death. Has very many kinds about the suicide reason, but impulsiveness is a noticeable factor. At present many about the research sample of impulse is only limited in the suicide attempted and in the normal crowd, with the suicide groups about the impulse research are very few, but does with the suicide groups about the impulse research most has the persuasive power. The suicide death research needs the psychological autopsy, but the psychological autopsy method needs the psychology measuring tool of others-rating version.Objective: This research is for the purpose of revising the Dickman's Impulsivity Inventory (DII) of others-rating version, in Northeast China under the backgrounds of rural area, by the others-rating of DII reliability and validity testing, carried out a preliminary study on Risk factors for suicide in rural areas. Until now, there have no reported on others-rating scale of impulse. So the amendment was an exploratory research.Methods: A random sample of rural residents in Dalian Zhuanghe and using the method of cluster sampling, taken from the city of Dalian Zhuanghe June 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008 suicide deaths cases of rural residents. Scale revised procedures:(1) In a formal test version of the DII, based on the wording be modified to adjust and to formed the DII Forecast version of others-rating; (2) DII forecast version of others-rating applies to pre-experimental group of 102 cases of rural residents, after the item analysis, screen out inappropriate projects and made adjustments in the translation, and formed DII official test version of others-rating; (3) DII official test version of others-rating will be testing in 258 cases of rural residents, the inappropriate items was deleted after item analysis and factor analysis, formed the DII of others-rating version(DII-OR); (4) In the 258 cases of rural residents in 52 randomly selected individuals, four weeks after the test-retest, to test the scale of the test-retest reliability. (5) Evaluate the reliability of the DII-OR. (6) Test the cases of suicide deaths and control group, and do the Preliminary validation study, evaluate the discriminant validity of the DII-OR.Results: (1) Pre-test results showed that D5, D7, D18, D20 was less than the threshold 3.0, and the correlation coefficient was also lower than 0.3, after re-translation and adjustment, in the formal analysis of test items, as the D18 was still relatively low degree of identification, had been deleted. In factor analysis there have two projects with the purpose of testing was opposite, and then exchanged the projects with each other. (2) The results of reliability assessment of the Dickman's others-rating showed that the scale has good internal consistency and stability, the internal consistency reliability of the total Impulsivity scale (Cronbach's alpha), dysfunctional and functional impulsivity scale was 0.8795, 0.8626, 0.8387 respectively. The split-half reliability of the total-scale and subscales was0.8852, 0.8352, 0.8320 respectively, the test-retest reliability was 0.870; (3) Validity analysis, construct validity through confirmatory factor analysis can be tested, the results support the theory of the Dickman's Functional and Dysfunctional impulsivity. Discriminant validity was to analysis the suicide groups in rural areas and matching with the normal population in rural areas, results showed that the suicide group was significantly higher than the control group, has good discriminant validity.Conclusion: DII of others-rating version has good reliability and validity, in line with the requirements of psychometrics, can be used in rural areas of the analysis of risk factors for suicide. It can also be used in the personality research.
