"A Left-Handed Book": A Study To The Duality Of The Blind Assassin

Margaret Atwood(1939-) as the "Queen of Canadian literature," enjoys a high reputation because of her excellent literary achievements in the international community. In 2000, her novel named "Blind Assassin" won the Booker Prize that year and caused a wider range of concerns. At abroad, the "Blind Assassin" had a more in-depth studies from various angles , furthermore both quantity and quality have reached a certain height. Compared with foreign countries ,the studys of "Blind Assassin" are mostly the whole interpretation and seems rather shallow and thin,so the fine-depth study is needed.This Paper, starting with the analysis of duality of the "Blind Assassin", on the basis of the text analysis, using of feminist theory, argues the relationgship between "Chinese set"-style narrative structure and the feminist consciousness , in order to get the conclusion that the "Blind Assassin " expresses the female secret and true living conditions with a unique narrative structure. In the introduction,the writer provides an overview of Atwood's artistic achievements and artic of the characteristics, describes the study situation both a at home and abroad,and explain the method and the theory of this paper. In the second chapter, narrator's readme constitutes the personal memory of the works and the news clippings constitute the public memory of the works. Public memory provides the narrative space-time clue for the personal memory,and personal memory is the challenge of public memory. The two memory mutually colludes and confirms, revealing the imitation and blindness of the public memory, demonstrating the strength of revealing the truth owned by personal memory to some extent,and remind people to be concerned about the true status of women lost in the grant narrative.In the third chapter, narrative's readme and the name novel "The Blind Assassin" narrative contrastively, demonstrates the double identities as lady and , slut and the false and the true egos, revealing the female split personality state under the male cultural repression,meanwhile exploring the method for women from the split-up to the selfsame.In the fourth chapter, narrator's readme and the science fiction of the works form contrast relations of history and fiction, revealing the deep historical and cultural reasons for the female suppression by male culture.In the conclusion,the writer cards the relations between the the "Blind Assassin " narrative structure and the dual thought and feminist consciousness,and come to the conclusion that the "Blind Assassin " expresses the female secret and true living conditions with the"Chinese set"-style complex narrative structure.
