| The reform of English teaching in secondary vocational schools has been generally concerned about by a vast number of educators. With the literature relevant to the study of education, the paper tries to combine Chinese and Western way of English teaching effectively in classes, on the basis of English teaching and research in Sino-foreign cooperative classes and general secondary school classes in order that the combined teaching tends to its unity by way of commutation of its advantages in classroom instruction and content. We can achieve teaching objectives in English by mixing the advantages of Chinese and Western way of teaching in secondary vocational schools.This paper firstly introduces the changes and the development of English teaching at home and abroad. It compares and analyzes traditional Chinese and Western modes of foreign language teaching to identify the advantages and disadvantages of both ways. Secondly comes the study of the characteristics of the Chinese and foreign students to find out the effects of different teaching methods on students. And then it explains the current situation in vocational teaching and student learning. By using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, the questionnaire and interview outline are designed for the students and teachers in Shanghai Commercial Accounting School, in order to better understand the Chinese and Western teaching methods brought about by different results, during which a comprehensive test of language is carried out, through the SPSS software for data statistics and analysis and the application of the principle of comparison of the results, so as to verify the previous findings. It finds out the Chinese and Western way of English teaching have different characteristics, knowledge and expertise, foreign language teaching should be a perfectly valid combination of the two , and integrates the strengths of both to make the ways and means of language teaching more appropriate for the students in vocational schools. |
