| It is very easy for native speakers to identify the concrete meaning and function of a multi-functional Chinese word, but it is not the case for computers to do so. Studies on the function transition between nouns and verbs in Chinese can be found a lot; however, studies on the function transition between Chinese nouns and adjectives are less seen. This study intends to cover this problem for the sake of computerized information processing of Chinese language. Five parts are included in this study:Chapter 1: describes the function transition of nouns, making clear that there exists significant difference between word-class transformation and function transition and put an study on the nouns used as adverbial.Chapter 2: Make a specialized study of the construction of " adverb +abstract noun",and point out that it was decided by the quality meaning, without its part of speech being transitted.Chapter 3: Make a specialized study of the construction of "adverb + noun", and consider the construction to be just a flexible use of Chinese nouns.Chapter 4: analyzes the word-class transformation from nouns to adjectives. There are 26 nouns which have possibly transformed into adjectives according to their distributions. We hope to offer practical proposals on labeling these words in the light of the prototype theory.Chapter 5: draws the conclusion of the paper and the possible improvements that can be done later. |
