YinHuaLu which was written by Zhao Lin is the outstanding one among literary sketches in the Tang Dynasty, it is recognized by ancient scholars for its unique structure, abundant content and highly historical value, but now, the research of YinHuaLu is not enough, so on the basis of systematically study to YinHuaLu, the writer do a further analysis to Zhao Lin and his YinHuaLu, and expounds the main point in five chapters.The preface, it elaborates the origin of the subject,the research methods, the research scopes, the significance of the research and review of the academic history. Chapter one, the life experience of Zhao Lin and the different versions of YinHuaLu. There are two parts in this chapter. The first part introduced all Zhao Lin's life and his family. Zhao Lin was born in an official aristocratic family, he had a very eminent cognation, he worked as an official and most of his friends were also officials or nobles, he knew a lot about the government at that time, all this factors above give strong guarantees to the reliability of his book YinHuaLu. The second part finds different versions of YinHuaLu,. Now we can find three kinds of versions in bibliographic books: version in six-volume, version in two-volume, version in one-volume. YinHuaLu in BaiHai is the only book which has all the six volumes, so it is the most comprehensive version now. This chapter showed five pieces of lost-essay which were found during the process of study.Chapter two, the sources of information in YinHuaLu and content analysis. There are three main sources of information in YinHuaLu: personal experience,rumors and other books. Generally speaking, most of the content in YinHuaLu was collated and written by Zhao Lin himself, both originality and dependability is high. YinHuaLu is abundant in content, it includes politics, economy, culture and some other parts in social life, it is helpful for doing researches on the history of Tang Dynasty. Chapter three, the purposes and characteristics of writing. The purposes of writing: to kept and handed down history, to belaud clans, to disseminate Confucianism morals, and to correct mistakes in some areas. The characteristics of writing can be found in two aspects: structure of writing and ways of writing. Zhao Lin structured YinHuaLu by the five notes of traditional Chinese music, and nobody had done like that before. He wrote YinHuaLu in a nimble mode, always gave notes by himself. He wrote both in directly way and distortedly way, he commented on something in the first person. The whole work is full of the characteristic.Chapter four, historical data value of YinHuaLu. Compared the record in YinHuaLu with the related records of XinTangShu, the related records of JiuTangShu and the related records of ZiZhiTongJian, we know that YinHuaLu is useful to discern the other records of history, it can also supplement the history, provide sources of information for history book, the historical data value of YinHuaLu is quite high.Chapter five, epilogue. YinHuaLu had been quoted by 76 documents from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. In the 76 documents, there are literary sketches, encyclopedias and historical documents, and most of scholars today give great appraisal to YinHuaLu,obviously its influence is profound. Of course, YinHuaLu is not perfect, there are still fabricated and biased records in it, but the defects can not obscure the virtues, on the whole, YinHuaLu is a great work among literary sketches in the Tang Dynasty.
