As one of information transmission media, poster design is rich in content and form. In the information technology background, with the diversification of means of communication, the wide application of science and technology, and people are becoming more and more open-minded, the performance language of poster design has already broken two-dimensional plane of the area, showing a "multidimensional" features. Modern poster design emphasizes the integrated use of a variety of visual elements ane various materials, pay attention to other areas, especially the integration with cultural environment, traditional print media expansing to the three-dimensional, virtual, multi-dimensional direction. With the gradual advance of globalization, international cultural exchanges frequent, poster design has been internationalized and popular, the design with national character and regional characteristics are becoming more and more important. Posters which are based on traditional forms will have new development and enter the flourishing era.Firstly, the concept of the poster, classification, functions, characteristics and history are briefly discussed, and then do specific analysis from the text, colors, graphics, poster design three aspects on visual language in order to show the importance of the visual element particularly graphic elements in the Poster Design; With the emergence of a variety of media, poster design are faced with new changes, this article analized the new performance of visual language from three aspects:the visual language, visual patterns and exploring ethnic style of poster design, and do forward-looking analysis and research from four aspects:commercial posters, public posters, art posters and posters which relies on digital technology. Using the method of theory and case analysis, the article seriously discussed new performance of visual language in poster design. Under the function of communicating information, full use of advanced tools of advanced design concepts and traditional culture of the resources, enrich and develop the posters'visual language of performance space, increasing posters'competitiveness in the multi-media era and to better present the its unique charm.
