Heritage And Development: The Chinese Culture In Singapore

Spring Festival is the most important and popular festival of contemporary Chinese in Singapore. As an important carrier of Chinese culture, it has become an important part of Chinese culture in Singapore. It not only plays an important role in promoting social progress of Singapore, but also is an important link in cultural exchange between two countries. Certainly it is one of the best cases to study Chinese culture's heritage and development in Singapore.This article uses the journal "source" which is published by Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations as the main reference, in the mean time, taking use of newspapers, internet resources, monographs, papers and other related information. The whole article Is divided into three departments:the stable development of cultural activities about Chinese Spring Festival in Singapore,the decline of cultural activities about Chinese Spring Festival in Singapore,the regeneration and new development of cultural activities about Chinese Spring Festival in Singapore.This article wants to explain the situation of heritage and development about the Spring Festival in Singapore, understanding the heritage and development about Chinese culture in Singapore and overseas, with a view from the angle of festival.The article points out that immigrants from South China used and developed the Spring Festival and other Chinese traditional folk festivals to construe a new Chinese society under the natural and cultural context of Singapore. After nearly two hundred years, Chinese traditional Spring Festival has become the main lineage of Chinese social and historical memory, experiencing the heritage and development, and playing the important role of Chinese culture in Singapore and native culture to make Chinese culture to be carried on without of abruption in Singapore.
