Study On Hanyu Da Zidian "X Same With X" Phonetic Notation

"Hanyu Da Zidian", abbreviated as "Da Zidian", is a large-sized Chinese reference book whose main task is to explain the shape, pronunciation and meaning of Chinese characters. It is famous in the world for "the largest scale, latest explanations, most complete documentary evidence and the most refined style". "Da Zidian " does reach the highest level in the compiling of Chinese dictionaries. Its achievements, values and role are enormous.As the content it involves is extremely broad, China's documents and ancient books and records are voluminous, the time constraints, project is huge plus the job was done by many authors and their levels are different, the shortcomings and omissions are inevitable. Since it came into publication, there have been many scholars to explore and correct the problems within it. Throughout most of the books and articles, we generally raised our own point of views on the shape and interpretation issues of the "Big Dictionary", citing a large number of documentary evidences to analyze and demonstrate. However, some phonetic notation problems of the "Da Zidian " didn't draw any attention. Currently there is no article on the "Da Zidian"'s word phonetic variant systematic research and analysis. This paper compares the modern pronunciations of the two characters which are noted "same with " in the "Da Zidian". For those who have different modern pronunciations, cite phonetic material, documentary evidence for dialectical analysis of the two's most suitable modern pronunciations draw and analyze reasons of the differences.This paper is divided into four chapters. Phonetic notation of "Same with" in the "Da Zidian " is what we call in the "big dictionary" "X same with X" phonetic notation. The first chapter briefly introduces phonetic layout style of the "Da Zidian ", nature of "X same with X" as well as the research value of this topic. The second chapter describes the "Da Zidian "'"X same with X"'s modern pronunciations similarities and differences, from two aspects the medieval phonology and meaning, sorted and analyzed more than 400 pairs of "X same with X" modern pronunciations of "Da Zidian", found the reason of the error and marked the appropriate modern pronunciations. There are mainly three categories, medieval sound, the same meaning, but different modern pronunciations; same meaning, medieval sound, but modern pronunciations is different; medieval sound, both meaning and modern pronunciations are different. The third chapter describes the standards and principles of the "Da Zidian"'s modern pronunciations nonation, analyzes "X same with X"'s reasons of different modern pronunciations. The fourth chapter is on "X same with X" phonetic notation dialectical material, citing the "Da Zidian"'s "X with X" dialectic contents.In short, by dialectical analysis of the differences of "Da Zidian"'s "X same with X"'s modern pronunciations, finding the most suitable modern pronunciations, is of great significance for examining and revising the "Big Dictionary".
