| Ever since the transition from the agricultural society to the industrial society, the mode of production broke through the traditional pattern and witnessed a dramatic development. Up to the information age when the society changed even more rapidly with each passing day, information outweighed material and energy to exert wide and profound influence on the economic and cultural development. The advanced communication technology and network not only brought dramatic changes to people's daily life but also posed new challenges to the inheritance and development of the traditional culture and arts. As part of the treasure of traditional culture and arts, the folk music could hardly avoid the influence of those changes. With the geographical constraint being broken by the enormous social transformation, rapid economic development as well as great shock from the foreign and newly-born cultures, tremendous change took place in the state of folk music, which was brought on two different tracks by information technology and social transformation:some grew popular with the benefit of the modern communication methods, whereas most of them fell into a decline to the brink of extinction. How to push folk music to its continuous development and renaissance turns out to be an issue worth attention. This paper will investigate the state of Chinese traditional folk music from the perspective of the features of information age, social transformation, economic development and cultural shock, on the basis of data analysis and research on specific music genre. Meanwhile, it will explore new ideas on the inheritance and development of folk music with the application of media technology, the innovation of the traditional folk music and the combination of folk music and comprehensive art. |
