The dissertation compares the application of numerals in Korean and Chinese from four aspects, then summarize the use situation of those numerals without counting function, as well as the unique roles they play in modern lives.The first chapter briefly sums up the numerals system in Korean and Chinese in terms of arrange and classification.The second chapter compares and analyzes the different understanding of numerals in both Korean and Chinese, and the application in daily lives. Meanwhile, the dissertation tries to analyze the national culture in terms of the different attitude towards numerals. On the basis of that, conduct a thorough analysis of the use of numerals in both language and lives from the aspect of national culture.The third chapter compares and analyzes the use situation of numerals in idioms in both Korean and Chinese. Based on the 1876 Chinese idioms contains numerals from《Xinhua Dictionary of Chinese Idioms》, and 1176 of those from《Korean Idiom Dictionary》and《Story Idiom Dictionary》, the dissertation analyzes the amount and use frequency of idioms with numerals in both Korean and Chinese. On the other hand, concluding the category of basic format, and the meaning of those idioms according to the format those numerals appear both individually and in combination, as well as the specific meaning of those numerals in idioms.The forth chapter put those numerals with similar meaning, such as 'ten','hundred','thousand', and'ten thousands'into the same category, then based on《Modern Chinese Dictionary》and《Practical National Language Dictionary》, to conduct statistical analysis on those compound words. Which summarizes the same meaning they stand for, word formation ability, and the various application of compound words contain such numerals.The fifth chapter analyzes the specific application of numerals in Korean and Chinese in modern network language, compares the use of them from three most important aspects, partial tone, homograph, and words with special meanings.
