Abstract:Muhammad ((?)) once said "seek knowledge everywhere, even in China." This expression explains Arabs' friendly feelings towards the Chinese people and their long tradition of diligent study.Teaching Chinese as a foreign language started in 1950. In recent years, the Chinese language has become an important tool for Chinese cultural exchange, increasing the international status of the Chinese language and resulting in a worldwide increase in the demand for Chinese language teaching. The friendship between Arab countries and China started as early as the Tang Dynasty and continues to this day. Chinese language teaching began in Arab countries in the 1960's, which laid the foundation for and has had a profound impact on the relationship between China and Arab countries that exists today. In recent years, economic and cultural exchange between China and Arab countries has developed further, which has resulted in an increase in students from Arab countries studying abroad in China, which in turn has contributed greatly to Chinese language teaching in Arab countries. This paper describes the rich history of the cultural exchange between China and Arab countries, the history of the teaching of Chinese in Arab countries, and the difficulties of learning Chinese for Arab students. This paper compares the Chinese and Arabic languages and investigates the problems Arab students encounter in learning Chinese pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, characters, and culture. The purpose of the study is to help Arab students understand and correctly use Chinese.Pronunciation includes"sound, transmission, and perception" issues, vocabulary is the raw material of the language, grammar is the way words make sentences, the structure and rules of a language, and cultural factors also deserve mention. This thesis also analyzes the typical mistakes of Arab students when learning Chinese. It is hoped that this study can help Arab students in learning the Chinese language, improve the teaching of Chinese in Arab countries, improve translation between Arabic and Chinese, improve Arab-Chinese cultural exchange, and contribute to trade and economic development.
