| Though in addition to responses with negative words, there are a large number of covert negative responses(negative responses without negative words) in Chinese conversations. Now, in teaching Chinese we have lot of study results about this problem. But in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, especially in teaching oral Chinese to foreign students, an allover and systematic study and research of covert negative responses still remains to be done. And few researchers study the pragmatic of the covert negative responses compound with intercultural communication. So, it is hard to meet the needs of students in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. This thesis attempts to give a summarized study of covert negative responses on the basis of a large quantity of language materials in Chinese conversations. We have a tentative categorization about covert negative responses according to expressive form and negative content, concluded pragmatic meanings, pragmatic strategies and pragmatic principles. On the basis of above study and in combination with the actual teaching, this thesis puts forward some teaching strategies from the point of studying a foreign language. |
