English teaching situation in higher vocational colleges is not so promising as expected. As the source of students is of diversity, their language foundation is uneven."This is because the students'English scores of the national entrance examination are at the lowest level of higher education in China. Of the overall poo results in this case, English writing of the college students is the weakest among the four skills of English learning, such as, listening speaking, reading and writing.So it is extremely difficult to improve the quality of English teaching in such higher vocational colleges.For a long time,however, the traditional teaching method, that is, "Method ofî–¢ lecture",has been playing a main role in the classroom teaching in vocational colleges, and students are mostly instructed in one-way instilling by most teachers.The lack of interaction between teacher and students, students and students,is extremely unsuitable for vocational students'learning styles and personal characteristics. Therefore, the unsatisfactory English teaching situation is more or less conspicuous during the classes in vocational colleges.In order to change this backward situation, and adapt to the needs of English teaching reform required by the state Authority in higher education, the author; analyzed the ways and styles of vocational college students in learning English and also their personal characteristics as well.In this paper the author tried to use "Experiencing method" to conduct the reform of the English writing to make a "breakthrough" in improving students'English writing abilities and their scores as well as their comprehensive abilities of English learning in final examinations.In this paper, the author intended to prove:Firstly, the use of "Experiencing Writing Method" can better improve the vocational college students'achievements than that of the "traditional Method of lecture" in the teaching of English writin. Secondly "Experiencing Writing Method" can also develop the vocational college students' overall scores of English learning and foster their self-confidence in English learning through the comparison of "Experiencing Writing Method" of English writing instruction and the traditional teaching of English writing.In my research, pre-test, post-test, pre and post, questionnaires and interviews have been used for data collection. SPSS 13.0 has been used for the processing of data, which guarantees the reliability of the research.The subjects in this study were 66 students in two classes enrolled in the year 2008 in the author's college.One class is the Experimental class taught with" Experiencing Writing Method";the other is the Control class taught with the traditional "Method of lecture".After three months of the experimental research of the "Experiencing writing method",data have been collected and analyzed. The results showed that the writing performance and English comprehensive achievements of the Experimental class were significantly higher than that of the Control class.However, at present, the "Experience teaching" is still in its exploratory stage, with the immature and imperfect theory, and the teaching mode remaining to be explored and practiced. Thus, the "Experiencing writing method" awaits further research and practice so that it will play an important role in English teaching in the future.
