Zheng He-Sheng (1901-1989)is a famous historian in modern China, he mainly engaged in the research of bibliography, modern Chinese history, Chinese and western traffic history and historiography. This paper takes his magnum opus as analyzing main line, combined with the whole trend of the development of Modern Chinese Historiography, makes a comprehensive inquiry into its academic achievement, research method and spirit and his influence. We seek to understand Zheng He-Sheng's academic thought, make known his historiography value and characteristics on the basis of seeking truth from facts, in order to provide useful lessons and enlightenment for the contemporary academic research.This paper consists of the preface, four chapters of the text and the conclusion. The preface introduces the significance of this topic, the related researches and its analysis path. Chapter I investigates Zheng He-Sheng's historical thought by studying his life and academic origin. Chapterâ…¡summarizes Zheng He-Sheng's achievements on historical Bibliography by introducingand. Chapterâ…¢researches his modern history study,which included his idea about exploring of the way of Chinese development in modern time. Chapterâ…£describes Zheng He-Sheng's achievements in the field of the Chinese and western traffic history, and mainly focuses on the study of Zheng He's voyages. The conclusion supplements Zheng He-Sheng's achievements on history education and the study of border area, and summarizes his scholarly research and evaluation.
