The "Six-Day War" which broke out in 1967 is a watershed in Israeli society, it activates a variety of changes in the factors of Israeli society. Israeli society experienced dramatic changes under the influence of internal and external elements after the war. This article purports to tease out the developing course of contemporary Israeli mainstream culture in the perspective of the pluralistic tendency of Israeli social life, political culture, religious culture after the Six-Day War, explore the influence of multiculturalism on Israeli society and figure out the special role of culture in the construction of nation-state. This article is mainly divided into three parts:The first part illustrates the embodiments of Israeli multiculturalism after the Six -Day War. In the early period after the establishment of the state of Israel, Worker's Zionist culture obtained dominancy in Israeli society.During this period, the mainstream culture displayed the characteristics of austerity and obturation. However, the breakout of the Six-Day War changed everything. After the war, in social life, the lifestyle of modern consumerism became prevalent in Israeli society. Oriental Jewish culture and Russian elements constantly stroked the mainstream culture. In the religious culture, the religious life and religious education of the masses showed the hue of diversity. The way of life changed in Orthodox Jewish community. In political activities, the guidelines of parties participating in the parliamentary election continued to fragmentize and the group identity in party politics and American elements became more and more obvious. The second part analyzes the reasons why the pace of Israeli multiculturalism speeds up after the Six-Day War. Following the war, the Israeli national economy experienced unprecedented prosperity.Large quantities of overseas Jews settled in Israel, the pace of social integration speeded up, ethnic differences in the power lead to the tilt which is not conducive to the mainstream culture. Besides, Israeli government changed its previous policy of slighting non-mainstream groups and began to encourage the coexistence and co-prosperity of group cultures. At the same time, Jewish community itself managed to discard certain elements that were disadvantageous to the development of multiculturalism, which in some degree advanced the growth of multiculturalism from inside. The third part investigates the consequences of Israeli multiculturalism after the Six-Day War. After the war, under the influence of multiculturalism, the new national identity of Israel gradually took shape and the conflicts between different interest groups decreased in some degree. Whereas, in the course of the decline of mainstream culture, new social thoughts constantly rose up, the political powers were unceasingly recombined together, the field of politics remained in turmoil and the society showed the tendency of group congregation and group mobilization. The above elements partly neutralized the efficacy of the social integration policy of the Israeli government.
