| The Sea Peoples, which is a general designation of different tribes in Anatolia and Aegean, invaded Egypt from the end of 12th century BC to the first of 11th century BC. It is already unclear for this invading of the Sea Peoples.A number of hypotheses concerning the identitis and motives of the Sea Peoples described in the records have been formulated as follows: Philistine hypothesis, Minoan hypothesis, Greek migrational hypothesis, Trojan hypothesis, Mycenaean warfare hypothesis, Italian peoples hypothesis, Anatolian famine hypothesis and Invader hypothesis.The ancient Egyptian civilization is one of four great ancient civilizations. Before the invading of the Sea Peoples, there happened the Battle of Kadesh (1286- 1285 BC) in the reign of Ramesses II.There are two invadings of the Sea peoples to ancient Egypt: one happened in the reign of Merneptah (1213-1203 BC), and the other happened in the reign of Ramesses III (1198-1166 BC). From the ancient Egyptian texts, we know the Sea Peoples are included as follows: Ekwesh, Teresh, Lukka, Sherden, Shekelesh, Peleset, Tjekker, Denyen and Weshesh.The invading of the Sea Peoples had the large influence to ancient Egypt, which also changed the development of ancient Near east. |
