How They Face In China, Research On The Response Experience Of 12 Persons Who Were Sexually Abused When They Were Children

Child sexual abuse is a hidden and heavy topic, but it is gradually thawing and concerned by scholars with the development and improvement of child protection work in China. In China, there is few study related to this topic, and they are not deep enough. Therefore, we interviewed 12 persons who suffered sexual abuse when they were children. The purpose of this study is to summarizes their response of child sexual abuse experience and change, and analyze how Chinese culture influence their behavior. After the study, we found the followings:After experiencing sexual abuse they suffered, they used the following ways to deal with themselves: (1) self-isolation; (2) self-denial and self-giving up; (3) self- Rebuilding; (4) self-exploration. They used the following to deal with others and the society: (1) hide themselves and refuse to accept the help from others; (2) talk to and seek help from specific group;(3) hate and hurt others(4) guard against the similar behavior;(5) show off;(6) concern and protect others;(7) have sex for the purpose of interests;(8) Access to the marginal groups;(9) imitate the behavior of the aggressor;(10) be hungry for a happy marriage and be accepted;( 11) denial marriage;(12)detest and refuse intimate behavior with others;(13) establish new social network. For the event itself, their responses are as follows:(1) accepted the violations;(2) confrontation with the offenders and violations;(3) hatred and revenge the violators;(4) seek compensation or exchange with the aggressor;(5) explore the events. These responses are closely related with family culture, traditional sex culture and sexual liberation ideological trend which was introduced into China in 80's.Through the study, we found that the cultural fusion had changed their responses. And family responsibilities is difficult to resist the pressure of the shame that be given by the traditional culture. On the influence of different cultures they need to be multi-faceted person. Sexual liberation ideological trend have a deeper influence on youth than middle-aged, and a bigger influence on city than countryside. With the passage of time, this phenomenon is enhancing. Based on the analysis, I made some suggestions on the social work intervention.
