As part of the creation of songs in New China, the creation of songs with Mongolian style has experienced three periods, namely"17 years"(1949-1966), the period from"the Cultural Revolution"to the 3rd Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the CPC (1966-1978), and the new period. With distinctive styles and characteristics in different periods, the creation of songs with Mongolian style has grown in pace with the development of the styles of songs in New China. Its"Mongolian style"reveals, from the external to the internal, from the concrete to the abstract, the influence of the spirit of the time on its creation and performance. As a kind of unique singing art, the singing of songs with Mongolian style lays its foundation on traditional Mongolian vocal art, while integrating traditional Chinese vocal art, western"bel canto", and contemporary pop music performance to form its"traditional singing","bel canto", and"pop singing", all with distinctive features of traditional Mongolian vocal art. Originated and developing from the traditional Mongolian music, songs with Mongolian style have rich"Mongolian flavor"while beyond it presenting multiple cultural dialogs between the traditional and the modern, between the Mongolian nationality and the Han nationality, and between the east and the west. As their song writers and performers are mainly Mongolians, songs of Mongolian style have the general characteristics of the songs with minority nationality style in New China. Being spread and popular in more than half a century, they have exerted quite strong influence with their fruitful creation and lasting performance, and thus forming a"Mongolian nationality phenomenon"in today's song circles in China.
