Water Culture Construction In The View Of Ecological Aesthetics

Water system is the most important eco-system for human beings. Water is the core of nature, source of life and root of culture. Water has leverage function to push social development and also the foundation for urban development. In ancient time, human beings created many watershed unique cultures through their treatment, knowledge and awareness to rivers they relied on for living. Water culture represents the total of all kinds of water-carried cultural phenomena created by human in their water activities, and also it is the aggregation of water-centered folk cultures.In current time, water resource development and utilization is one of driving forces for the development of national economy, agriculture, urban construction and social progress. People placed the greatest efforts and attentions to eco-civilization construction than ever, which is the common concern by the whole world. As one of important elements in the eco-system, water system naturally becomes the key part also a difficult part in eco-civilization construction.This paper is aimed to propose a concept of eco-Aesthetics"human first and harmonies development"water culture system by looking back the history of human water culture particularly the generation and development of Chinese water culture, and learning lessons from damages to global water resources and water environment. It also discussed water-human harmonious eco-ethic, eco-Aesthetics and moral concern as well as the restructuring of water culture from ecological Aesthetics point of view, together with the human countermeasures against modern water resources crisis and human survival crisis.Preface part discussed the background of water culture construction in the view of ecological Aesthetics, which is the evolution of human history from industrial civilization to eco-civilization, and eco-civilization once was one of the highest national decision-makings of China. The point view of water-human harmonious eco-Aesthetics and eco-culture based on the idea of"human first and harmonious development"is proposed.Chapter I looks back the very beginning of human beings and their respect to water-the source of life. Chapter I also described that water culture is originated from water worship and people respect water like respect god.Chapter II looks back the development of water culture in agriculture civilization age, and discussed the close relationship between human survival/development and water, and its natural transformation to"water of culture"; various presentation forms of traditional water culture are also discussed in detail in this Chapter.Chapter III gives deep thinking of free depredation and damage to water resources in industrial civilization age, criticizes economy-first concept which destroyed greatly natural environment especially water environment, and revealed the water resources crisis and human survival crisis along with worsening eco-environment confronted by China in modern time.Chapter IV suggests the view of water culture construction in the context of eco-Aesthetics and the ways of making it popular, and the initiative to construct a water-saving social culture with the idea of water-human harmonious eco-ethics, eco-Aesthetics, moral concern, human-water harmonious development and sustainable development.Conclusion part suggests that the world will be better if we construct a human-water harmonious culture based on the idea of"human first and harmonious development", by explanation made to the mascot of 2010 Shanghai Expo.
