Development And Education Of Traditional Virtues Against Market Background

For over 30 years from the reform and opening up, the Chinese scholars have continuously explored and researched the problems that whether inherit and develop the Chinese traditional virtues or not, and how to inherit and develop under the conditions of socialist market economy. In this paper, the author believes that the virtues and cultural tradition, produced by Chinese ethnic peoples for thousands of years, have profound historical foundation and their values and vitality will not disappear; at the same time, the market economy is the necessary stage of Chinese Modernization Course, which is a new mode of economic development and necessarily requires new moral idea to fit it. Therefore, the inevitable course of inheriting and developing the Chinese traditional virtues is to make modernization of the Chinese traditional virtues meet the modern spirit.This paper discusses this subject from four aspects:The first part is the introduction. It defines the concept of the traditional virtues: elaborating the meaning of the selected subject, summarizing the informed research, and explaining the thought, method and frame of the research of this paper.The second part sorts and explains the eight excellent moral categories with modern worth in the traditional virtues, and sets forth the five-favorable to the society.The third part sets out the integration and diversity of the relation among the traditional virtues, market economy and ruling the country by law. The main contents are:the relation between ruling the country by virtue and ruling the country by law; mutual function between the development of the traditional virtues and market economy; the "maintenance" function of traditional virtues on market economy; the market economy should be driven by the essence of the traditional virtues; the influence of the traditional virtues on the market economy.The fourth part proposes the objective, rule, method and meaning of educating traditional virtues for Youth Generation who grows in the environment of market economy. The main contents are:clearing and defining the requirements of education and the cultivation objective; making scientific cultivation principles; inheritance and development of traditional virtues by "eight honors and eight disgraces"; exploring practical cultivation measures; path used by the education of the traditional virtues.The main research results of this paper are:summarizing the eight contents of the traditional virtue education, analyzing the relation between the market economy and the traditional virtues and the traditional virtue under market economy. Clearing and defining the cultivation objectives and principles of the "eight honors and eight disgraces" combined education, proposing the measures and approaches of developing traditional virtue education in schools. Theses research results provide the educating traditional virtues in schools with references.
