Analysis and comparison of the comprehensive competitive power of the textile industry in TianjinThe textile industry is one of the traditional vital industries, making greater contributions to the economic development in Tianjin. But in recent years, the textile industry has met with unprecedented difficulties and problems, so the ways of development have become the most important issue for study. Based on the marking investigation, this paper analyzes systematically the comprehensive competitive power of the textile industry in Tianjin. The paper expects that people can understand the current situation of the textile industry in Tianjin and are well prepared for the influence of China's textile after joining WTO.The paper starts from the concept of textile comprehensive competitive power.By analyzing the current situation of China's textile industry, it deeply discusses some advantages and disadvantages of China's textile industry. Meanwhile, the paper appraises the opportunities and challenges that China's textile industry is going to face after China joins WTO.The paper analyzes systematically the textile comprehensive economic power in Tianjin.It applies muti-element statistics to comprehensive settlement on datas to design a stepshaped index system,selects the principal component analysis to compare and analyze the data of 31 provines and cities of China in 2000. The orders of comprehensive economic power are given.At the same time, it also uses the factor analysis to analyze the changing trend and comprehensive influential factors of the textile industry in Tianjin within the nine five-year plan,takes advantage of model ofcomprehensive evaluation to caculate comprehensive grades about the developmental level of textile industry every year. This way may avoid an i naccuracy of the decision of weight due to subjective judge mean. We consider both the importance of each index in subjectivity and its information amount in objectivity so as to properly and effectively reflect the weight of evaluation system. In addition, combining computer technology with statistic analysis, we have developed statistic software that realizes principal component analysis algorithm which can be operated conveniently and has complete functions.The results indicatedirst, under a few indexes selected properly, the first principal component can serve as a measure of an area's comprehensive economic power. Its formula has stead coefficients and its results are reliance. Second,the coordinate figure of the first and second principal components is of great audio-visual sicnifcance.it can clearly show the distinguishing feature and similarity. This is a very useful analyzing means. Third, the factor analysis can be used completely to analyzing the aligning datas in time, its calculating results reflect totally the developmental trend and changing reasons of the textile industry in Tianjin.On the above-mentioned basis, the paper emphasizes the possion of the textile industry in Tianjin in the national economy and its developmental advantages. From the four factors , new ideas, regulation of structure, development of green textile products and utilization of information technology,the paper puts forward some policies and suggestions on how to improve the comprehensive competitive power of the textile industry in Tianjin in the light of its actual situation.
