This paper makes a comprehensive and systematic study of Indian Asia-Pacific security strategy after the Cold War ended ; Firstly , it retrospects the historical evolution of Indian Asia-Pacific security strategy during the Cold War . Secondly , it analyses the contents of Indian Asia-Pacific security strategy after the Cold War ended , which include strategic targets , strategic measures and strategic emphases ; Strategic targets are divided into the recent target and the ultimate target . The recent target is to control south Asia and the India Ocean , but the ultimate target is to become a great power of the Asia-Pacific region and the world . It also explores some features of Indian Asia-Pacific security strategy after the Cold War ended . Thirdly , it studies impacts of Indian Asia-Pacific security strategy after the Cold War upon world security , Asia-Pacific security , south Asia security and India . It forecasts the perspectives of Indian Asia-Pacific security strategy at the beginning of new century . Finally , it puts forward China's strategic countermeasures based on the impacts of Indian Asia-Pacific security strategy at the beginning of new century upon current China . The above-mentioned researches will not only improve China academic circles' studies of Indian Asia-Pacificsecurity strategy , but also help the China side to make policiestowards south Asia including India at the beginning of the 21st century.
