The Study On The Extension Of Agricultural Technology And Peasants' Income Increase In Yantai City

Since the reform and opening-up policy was put into practice over 20 years ago, agricultural technology and its extension have achieved great success in Yantai. The transformation rate of technological achievements has reached 49%. The contribution rate of scientific and technological progress to the increase of agricultural economy has reached 55%. The extension of technology has greatly promoted the development of agriculture and rural economy in Yantai and in the same time, peasants' incomes have greatly increased. Per-capita average incomes have risen from 161 Renminbi yuan in 1978 to 3290 Renminbi yuan in 1999. But in recent years, in Yantai and other parts of China, there is a tendency that the speed of peasants' income increasing slows down. Increasing peasants' incomes has become the focus of peasant's wish, the hot point of social concern and the main point of rural work. Many factors have influences on peasants' incomes ?the factor of policy, the land scale and its potential, the construction of agricultural industry, the output and prices of agricultural products, etc. But in the writer's view, in the long run, greatly forcing the cause of extension of agricultural technology, sticking to the policy of promoting agriculture by science and technology, fully increasing the content of science and technology in agriculture will be inevitable in keeping agriculture developing continuously and keeping peasant's incomes increasing constantly. So it's very important to study the present extension of agricultural technology in Yantai, to analyze the present state of peasants' incomes and its cause, to find the way to increase peasants' incomes, to explore the orientation of the development of agricultural science and technology.In this paper, the problem is discussed by means of qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis and positive study with the help of detailed materials, data, and investigation results. First, the contribution of extension of agricultural technology to peasants' incomes is analyzed in the change of peasants' income increase, the change of the income origin and its formation and the change of the industrial distribution of rural working forces. Second, the relationship between the scientific and technological level of working forces and the results in extension of agricultural technology as well as peasants' incomes is studied. Third, the relationship between rural environment, rural culture and the results in extension of agricultural technology as well as peasants' incomes is discussed. Finally, nine suggestions for this problem are put forward through the analysis of the contribution of extension of agricultural technology to peasants' income increase in Yantai and its restricting factors.
