Hobbs, a well-known British political thinker and materialist philosopher in the seventeenth-century, was regarded as the founder of modern political philosophy by the Western academia. Absorbing the methods of modern natural science and philosophy, he put forward the theory of "natural state" and"the origin of country", considering that the country is formed by making contracts for people to comply with the "natural law". He constructed a "Leviathan", forming a systematical theory of the state. In the national theory of history, his theory consciously observed the state through human's view for the first time, marking the beginning of modern state's contract theory ,which greatly influenced the later political thinkers.Based on Hobbes'original works or survey about the state theory, consistent with the historical and political background of that time, this study analyzes his rational argument on the state's founding and also its rights by combining with his opinion of "Human Nature" and "contract view" .To observe the state from human's view, this study tries to reproduce his political philosophy by researching the Hobbes'state theory .Besides,by discussing his state theory in a historical and practical dimension, you can also find out what Hobbes'theory of the state's rationality, historical limitations and practical value is in this study.
