| Shipping e-marketplace has been gradually coming into form with the emergence and development of e-commerce activities in the IT-driven market evolution, which is the product of new market structure and environment adapted in the cyber economic era. It is still a completely new concept.The research subject of this paper is shipping e-marketplace. Through analyzing the background of e-commerce era, the author points out that e-marketplaces just fit into the era's characteristics. Then the analysis of developmental tendency of shipping industry shows that e-marketplaces will definitely play a crucial role in the IT era's shipping circle. Furthermore, the author is intending to sketch the picture of the shipping e-marketplace by analyzing its connotation, operation mechanism, reason for being into form, inevitability of its existence and development, its developmental course, the current problems and its tendency, which is expected to provide the shipping industry theoretical justification and strategic instruction.Another key issue in this paper is the pricing of e-marketplace. According to the three key factors of market scale and transaction frequency, ability of arbitrage and information asymmetry, e-marketplace pricing status is divided into garage sales, customized procurement auctions, double auctions, and precision pricing. The author holds that, due to the challenge of technological progress and fierce market competition to fixed pricing, dynamic pricing will be in fashion again. The in-depth analysis of shipping price auction and precision pricing intends to furnish the pricing in shipping e-marketplace with relevant theoretical instruction.The ultimate goal for the operation of shipping industry in e-marketplace is to form its management model. Guided by this goal, this paper states a series of implementation strategy aimed at the forthcoming impact of e-marketplace to shipping industry.
