There are many marketing patterns about drugs. Base price contracting marketing and professionalized marketing are the two main methods utilized in the marketing of prescription drugs. Most of the pharmaceutical companies in developed countries today have adopted the professionalized model because of its advantages in widening the distribution capabilities of new drugs, building up the company's and its product's reputation and maintaining their continuing growth. The scope of China's pharmaceutical enterprises are still relatively small, their strength not yet fully formed and similar products are being repeatedly manufactured. This brings about heavy competition and as a result survival of enterprises has become a primary task today. In China the main pattern adopted is still the base price contracting model. Its advantages are: easy management, low expenses, safe payments. Very suitable for short term profit making .In this paper, through a comparative analysis of the two marketing patterns utilized by DD Pharmaceuticals, I have concluded that both these models have their own distinguishing characteristics as well as a firm rational for their continued existence.Professionalized marketing is one of the central forces driving competition in the pharmaceutical industry. With the gradually rising power of China's industries, and the ever improving innovative abilities, the hope is that more and more pharmaceutical enterprises will establish their own professionalized marketing structures which will be needed to maintain steady growth and face the challenges posed by China's entry into the WTO.
