Examination Of The Values Underlying Harmonious Society

President Hu Jintao summarized the features of contemporary harmonious society as the following: the relationship between citizens characterized by honest and friendship, the social system characterized by democracy, constitutionality, justice, vigor and stability, the ecological environment featured by harmonious symbiosis of man and nature. The realization of social harmony and fine society maintains a social ideal which mankind has been pursuing after. It is also an ideal which Marxist parties, including CPC have been seeking after. Harmony and harmonious society are fine pursuit of mankind. The realization of harmonious society demands us to make a deep feasible and practical theoretical analysis from the philosophical perspective. This analysis will be a process of extending, examining and enriching the connotation of harmonious society. The question of how to analyze the target realization of harmonious society from the philosophical perspective is of great significance to the exploration of the operating mechanism of socialist society and also to the comprehension of building harmonious society in new situations. As far as I am concerned the examination should be given top priority in studying building harmonious society from the level of underlying theories. Values remain the core of mankind civilization development, which serves as a basis for the structuring of material civilization, political civilization and spiritual civilization. The establishment of specific values will help establish the model of a civilization, the type of a culture, the mode of a society and the living ways of specific people. The examination of values is a necessity to build harmonious society and to lay a foundation of future society.The values of harmonious society can be summarized as plural symbiosis and interactive development. This kind of values constitutes three specific layers: firstly, autogenic individual values, secondly, self-organizing social values, thirdly, symbiotic interactive development. The values are underlined by two theories. One is the intellectual concept of social symbiotic evolution. The other is the theory of self-organizing society.
