The Thought Of Mixed Polity Of Republicanism In The West

As a kind of great political tradition with a long history, the origin of Republicanism in theory and practice dates back to the era of city-state of ancient Greece and Rome.And the political tradition continues in Italian city Republics of the Renaissance.After completely reforming of thinkers of Britain and America in the 17th and 18th centuries,and it has been inheritted and developed in modern theory and practice of politics.The thought of mixed polity is very important part of Republicanism in the west.The Republicanism holds that mixed polity on the basis of system-building of mix and balace can safeguard republic ideal.In the author's view, mixed polity means a kind of framework which is based on the pursuit of justice and stability of politcal order.Under this framework,power should be shared by two and more groups or two and more simple forms of government combine to make a new one.The focuses of mixed polity are on the three parts: The partition between power bodies;The partition between power organs;The check and balace on the basis of common understanding. In a way, modern ideal political framework is the mixed polity.At present, in the western modern countries, carrying out the design and construction of the political system according to the spirit of mixed polity of Republicanism has been well accepted by people. To the present China that is in the period of political transition, the basic ideas and principles of Republicanism in the aspect of construction in political order and political system will be definitely of great importance of demonstration and use for reference.On the basis of that, the discussion of this paper can be divided into the following three parts:The first part: The evolvement of the thought of mixed polity of Republicanism in the west.
