'The Blair Years'came to an end as Tony Blair declared his resignation as British Prime Minister. However, the phenomena of media politics that prevailed when he was in office are still remained to be discussed, and will never be out of dated, because they would be the turning point for the further improvement of the relationship between media and politics in Great Britain. Thus, get into the study of this issue according to its process and basic performance can find out the discipline in this field, and is good for the prediction to its way of going. At the same time, a scientific study for the government which is characterized as"high legitimacy and effectiveness"such as Great Britain is worth China learning and surely be good both for the development of Chinese media politics and the process of political democracy.Firstly, this graduation paper shows the characters of media politics in Great Britain through the course that the media politics appeared and prevailed, and accordingly summarizes and lists them systematically. During the period of Blair's governance, New Labour Party was enthusiastic in controlling the media, which has manifested itself mainly in the prevalence of spin doctor, a full set of strategy and regulation that are beneficial for its winning for the election through the election practice in the year of 1997, 2001 and 2005. All these strategies and regulations include building its party constantly, taking new strategic communication methods, strengthening the domination of the media. Although these strategies and regulations did not showed in the form of characters, it has been a real existence and actively guided the New Labour Party to deal with media.Secondly, it is reasonable that media politics rose and prevailed in Great Britain. This graduation paper analyzed the reason of it. On the background of globalization, American electoral politics has made great influence on British politics, and applied to British media politics system broadly. All we can say that globalization and American electoral politics is the external cause for the rising of media politics in Great Britain, and the interaction between politicians and Journalists for achieving their aims is the inner motivation. Great Britain formed the highly developed media society by taking the facility of communication technology. Tony Blair was getting on this bandwagon. For the need of developing democracy and politics, the interaction between politicians and the journalists got an unprecedented situation. Despite of this, the unique historical custom in British society, i.e. both the government and media have mingled mutually, demanded for each other, is another important reason for the rising of media politics in Great Britain. All these factors can be taken as the roots of its rising and prevailing. This graduation paper aims at finding out the significant influence to the British society and political development caused by Blair's media strategy. Obviously, the thriving of media politics give impetus to the media itself, consequently, it initiated the innovation in the political field, and finally pushed its politics to a more democratic direction. But at the same time, media politics also made lots of misses, such as spin doctor is so powerful but without any regulation, political power interfere the job of journalists directly even the content of the news report which reached the bottom line of free of the press. How to evaluate Blair's media strategy? Through the deeply analysis, I frame a conclusion that the phenomena of the media politics is the result of both the media and politics which demand for each other and do not happen occasionally. Thus, it is an important sign for a party's governance that the using and handling the media properly, if a party wants to govern more effectively and efficiently. Under the leadership of Tony Blair, the New Labour Party wined its election successively which is inseparable to its effort to gain tight connection with the media. New Labour Party paid much more attention to the status and role of media which is its inevitable choice. Media politics in the UK has brought great change both in its society and people's mind. Thus, not only will media politics be disappeared but also prominent in the next general election. This graduation paper adopt methods of historical analysis, analysis of document, and comparative analysis...
