As one of the most frequently-occurred states of psychological discomfort which have a very important function in relation to survival. As a special position, the job responsibilities of military pilots are unique compared to other positions in military careers, which involves sophisticated skills, high intensity and high risks of dangers in the daily tasks of flight. The pilots are normally exposed to the high stress conditions both physically and psychologically, thus prone to be anxious. The pilots suffering from anxiety, in turn, might have coped with more challenging tasks in daily life or flight tasks, barely sufficient to meet the high requirements and expectation in their modern military career. As a result, the mental health of military pilots has attracted more and more attention from the psychologists. The article is to conduct research of the anxiety(characteristics) of military pilots and its coping style based on the correlativity analysis between anxiety and mental health, aiming at an exploration of the mental rules occurred in their flight training and providing a psychological reference for the mental consultation work of military pilots as it is of vital significance to ensure the sound mental health of the military pilots for the achievement of flight task and the extension of the pilots'career length. The research is carried out to understand the state-trait anxiety, anxiety sensitivity, mental health conditions and the corresponding coping style concerning the military pilots and reveal the correlation between the above-mentioned elements by employing such measurement means of state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI), Anxiety Sensitivity Questionnaire, Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90) and Coping style Questionnaire as well. Then the elements exerting influence on the mental health of military pilots and their coping style are further revealed to render some theoretical and practical evidence to the mental work regarding military pilots in the aspect of psychological protection and precautions.Such results listed as follows have been achieved: 1. The overall mental condition of the military pilots of the research is sound in terms of anxiety and the corresponding counter measures. The pilots of good mental being maintain low state-trait anxiety and anxiety sensitivity; the military pilots with low state-trait anxiety level normally resort to mature and reasonable coping style such as seeking solutions to issues and asking for advices rather than such reasonable and immature ones of mixing nature as self-blaming, evasion, and excuse legalization etc.2. State-trait anxiety , anxiety sensitivity,scl-90 and coping style were influenced by many factors.3. State-trait anxiety and anxiety sensitivity maintain positive correlation with mental health conditions. The mental conditions of the military pilots are subject to the state-trait anxiety and anxiety sensitivity. The elements of state-trait anxiety and the factors of anxiety sensitivity bear obvious negative correlation with the coping style and the corresponding help-seeking factors. The other factors of coping style than the help-seeking ones, however, are negatively relative to the elements of state-trait anxiety and anxiety sensitivity, well indicating the low anxiety level of the military pilots resorting to mature coping style and the higher anxiety level of those resorting to immature ones of mixing nature.4. Anxiety sensitivity was a good predictor of mental health:fear for loss of psychological ability made a direct effect on the mental health of pilots, while fear for physical arousal made an indirect effect.5. The study also conveys the message that the mental health of the military pilots is mainly decided by the state-trait anxiety and anxiety sensitivity of their own self. In addition, the mental conditions of the pilots are also influenced by such elements as the military settings, the way of their parents'rearing and education, the family structure, the collective atmosphere of the army, the attitude of the supervisors toward the pilots, the interrelationship of the pilots with others and the physical being of the pilots as well.
