of the U.S.-India defense security relations during the Bush administration period in order to lay the foundation for the analysis below.Partâ…¡analyzes the reasons and constraints of the development of the U.S.-India defense security relations during the Bush administration period. The part discusses the reasons mainly from three aspects, that is,the achievement of strategic objectives and the acquirement of economical or technological benefits via the other party, similar "democratic system" and value identity. The part also analyzes the constraints of the development of the U.S.-India defense security relationship, including the inconsistency of their strategic objectives,India's non-aligned foreign policy, the U.S.-Pakistan relations and India's domestic anti-American sentiment. It will help enable us to have a basic understanding about the substance of the developmental tendency of the U.S.-India defense security relations and also able to offer a few useful references for the predication of the development of the U.S.-India relations.Partâ…¢analyzes the influences of the U.S.-India defense security relations on China's peripheral security during the Bush administration period.Of course, they are mainly adverse influences. The part makes a more detailed analysis on them from three aspects respectively, including the influences of the U.S.-India nuclear agreement, the ones of the containment on China from the U.S.and India, the ones of the U.S.-India cooperation in the Indian Ocean. All this may make us see the seriousness of China's peripheral security situation to lay the foundation for the proposed measures below.Partâ…£proposes China's three countermeasures in response to the influences above. First,China should develop the relations with India and the U.S.to expand common interests. Second,China should also develop the relations with the other neighboring countries to solve China's maritime security issues.Third,China should boost military modernization to maintain its peripheral security. The countermeasures should be said to target some specific issues respectively, which,we believe, will play a positive role in the resolution of the challenge to China's peripheral security posed by the U.S.-India cooperation in the defense security field. In short, during the George W.Bush administration period,it is not accidental to develop the U.S.-Indian defense security relations which are promoted by some underlying reasons. Of course, the development is not smooth, which has still some constraint factors. However, based on their respective national interests, the U.S.and India will constantly develop and deepen their defense security relations in the future, which will inevitably influence China's peripheral security and stability. Therefore,China must take effective measures to deal with it in time.
