In the information age, Information resource is an important strategic resource, has great value. In our social life, Timely and accurate access to information can help us to develop economic and trade, help the enterprise found business opportunities, help consumers to achieve their rights and interests, and help the Government to improve their service quality. Government is the largest information producers, owners and disseminators, Possession of the vast majority of the whole society of information resources, and most of the information resources are very important. Nowadays, more and more countries in the worldwide have pay great attention to the public access to government information resources. After years of development, USA and the European Union make a success of the public access to government information resources, and accumulated a lot of valuable experiences. The public access to government information resources in China has improved a lot, but still has many problems. The government has a wealth of information resources, only a small part of them are open to the public, the ways and channels need to improve. It's a great waste that the huge government information resources can not been fully used. The public access to government information resources can solve many widespread problems in China, eg, the waste of information resources, information asymmetry and so on. So, it is necessary to analysis the status quo of public access to government information resources in China, points out the major problems existing and puts forwards some corresponding suggestions.
