Within the advancement of technology and the approaching of the information age, higher education is more and more valued. So far, a great many researches have been proceeded concerning the contribution of Chinese economic increase to education. However, by referring to a large amount of documentations, the fact has been disclosed that there is few works on the contribution of higher education to the economic development in Liaoning Province, in which researches are made on the grounds of the relatively accepted quantity approach. Thus, it is theoretically valuable for I to choose my present topic. Meanwhile, by data analyses and the contrast of situations home and abroad, we may find that how are the present situation of our provincial higher education's input, development and its contribution to economy. This thesis provides with some suggestions on how to transform the population advantage into the advantages of human resources and capitals and how to improve the impact of the higher education on local economic increase by reviewing the higher education resource scheme and the use of education outlay in Liaoning province.This thesis makes empirical research by referring, disposing and analyzing a great deal of statistics, on the basis of referring to a large amount of documentations. The findings of this thesis are as follows:The first part introduces the relevant fundamental theories, such as the foreign education economics and human capital theory since 60s of 20th century, and national scholars' researches about higher education and economic growth.The second part according to the development in Liaoning Province, analyzes the economic role of higher education, including the role of economic growth, the role of economic restructuring, the role of population growth, technological progress and the stimulative role of higher education in Liaoning Province.The third part based on a large amount of documents, we introduce the models and approaches of the assessment of higher education's contribution to the rate of economic increase in Liaoning Province, and, we got a conclusion by SPSS software.The forth part, according to the conclusion before-mentioned, analyse the key factor and influence of economic increase.The last part put forward some suggestions on how to improve higher education in Liaoning Province.There are two points about the contributions of the paper: The first is in the Liaoning Province Development of Higher Education conducted a detailed study based on analysis of the higher education role in promoting economic development in Liaoning. Another is to establish the Liaoning's production function model contained input of eduction and calculating the contribution of higher education to Liaoning's economic growth.
