| Sanjiang Dong Nationality Autonomous County and Jinxiu Yao Nationality Autonomous County ,wihich are two of the 12 minority nationality autonomous counties in Guangxi and, also 2 of the most impoverished counties in Guangxi,come with the jurisdiction of Liuzhou District Prefectural Commissioner's Office.The economy of the two counties is among the worst in Liuzhou DistrictJnfluenced by their economy,their current education situation is bad. " The Nine-Year Compulsory Education" hasn't been popularised in half of their villages and towns.Teachers in the two countries are poorly educated.Many children of school age discontinue their studies.Under such circumstances,the Chinese language teaching in their middle schools meets with many difficulties:1. Most teachers of Chinese are not qualified.2. Lack of teaching research.3. The students' knowledge of the Chinese language is limited.4. The students' ability of thought is to be developed.However,certain progress has been nade in the Chinese language teaching in the two counties.Take Sanjing Middle School as an example.The teachers in this school pay much attention to their teaching methodology,and they help each other in their teaching \vork.Their students have achieved good results in Chinese in the College Entrance Examinations for the past three years.In order to solve the problems in the Chinese language teaching in minority nationality regions,we may take the following measures:1. Try every means to raise funds for local education.2. Encourage teachers to succeed their education while they're working.3. Make efforts to do more teaching research in the Chinese language teaching.4. Develop the students' ability of thought as often as possible.Chinese is a fundamental subject in middle school.We must attach importance to the Chinese language teaching in middle school in minority nationality regions.
