The teaching reform team headed by Prof. Chen Zhongmu and Prof. Song Naiqing in the Mathematics Department of Southwest China Normal University, in view of the poor Mathematics teaching quality and overburden on the students and teachers in the middle school, carried out the "GX" Experiment in 1992, which integrated the reform of the teaching conceptions, teaching materials and teaching methodology. Remarkable successes have been achieved.Ten years passed, but carrying forward the spirit of "GX" Experiment and keeping on innovating is still the need of our era.The student is the first essential factor to consider in improving the class efficiency. This study attempts to make a primary research on the learning strategies of the "GX" Experiment from the viewpoint of students:1. Investigates the characteristics of the "GX" Experiment. "Advance circularly" which claims the inherent unity between formal logic and dialectical logic; "centralize properly" which emphasizes the construction of the knowledge structure; "Speaking follows doing", which focuses on the construction of learners' mathematics image; "Students collaborate with teachers", which attaches importance to the development of the 'bi-body" (learner and teacher).2. Constructs the learning strategy system of "GX" Experiment, which consists of three subsystems: learning strategies, relevant factors (learner and environment), and classroom learning efficiency. Learning strategies are further divided into three: conceptions, ("GX" learning concept), methods and regulation. The three are holistic, dynamic and open.3. Carries out the verifying mini-experiment study on "GX" learning strategies training. The following conclusions are reached:1)"GX" learning strategy training is feasible and practical, which helps to improve the mathematics classroom efficiency in the middle schools.2)"GX" learning strategies benefit students with developmental level of A, B, C. While B-level students are benefited most; the C-level students, comparatively, are benefited least.3)The efficiency of "GX" learning strategy training is in close relation with the training methods adopted by the teacher, the subjects' foundation in Mathematics and the degree to which the subject participate in the classroom.
