Basic education is of momentous strategic significance for development of every nation. Curriculum in the minority country areas should embody the national and rural characters of the basic education. However, the national and rural particularity of the basic education curriculum in rural minority areas is usually overlooked.From the perspective of community research, the paper strives to pay close attention to the practice circumstances of the basic education curriculum of the minority country in the particular areas. Rooted in Zhoucheng Village, Dali Municipality, Yunnan Province and the Zhoucheng Nine-year School, based on minority education's duality theory and multicultural educational theory and the influences on curriculum by culture in the sociological field of vision, and putting qualitative and quantitative research into use, the research analyzes the practice circumstances and existent problems of the curriculum of the basic education in the community environment of Zhoucheng Village, makes clear the value orientation towards the basic education curriculum in this community, and conceives a kind of curriculum which fits in with the needs of country in the Bai Nationality areas and absorbs the community resources.The field research in this paper shows that school curriculum of Zhoucheng Village is almost consistent with the main culture during whole history. Whereas, its national and rural characters are not embodied. One concept of educational value owned long by Zhoucheng Village's inhabitants is that they can get away from the rural areas by entering a higher school. However, the reform of the employment systems of the graduates from institutions of higher education and polytechnical schools and the employment tendency caused by industrial structure adjustment which shows that the farmers do not engage in farm work any longermake Zhoucheng Village's inhabitants debase the expected value of education for entering a higher school. The curriculum contents distant from local social and economic development, teaching ignoring students' cultural context and their development needs, and the evaluation systems based mainly on marks make most Zhoucheng Village's students feel defeated and make the schools whose mission is to sent students to a higher school meet with confidence crisis. So the curriculum of the basic education of Zhoucheng is confronted with difficulties in looking for the appropriate road of developing itself.The paper attempts to makes clear the value orientation towards the basic education curriculum of Zhoucheng Village ,renew the aims of curriculum. Also the paper gives advice on how to reform the curriculum contents, how to search for the teaching methods suitable for students, how to make use of curriculum resources by reinforcing the relationships between schools and communities, how to reestablish the systems of curriculum evaluation, and how to make teacher education suit for the rural areas of the Bai nationality.
