Synthetically applying the existent theories and research directions in home and abroad, this paper described, counted and analyzed the kinship terminology of Han nationality and Tibetan nationality in three aspects: Firstly, described the kinship terminology of Han nationality and Tibetan nationality in detail; Secondly, with the help of the eight criteria deduced by Kroeber, quantatively counted the kinship terminology of Han nationality and Tibetan nationality, and compared the statistical results; Thirdly, categorized and compared the kinship terminology of Han nationality and Tibetan nationality with the guidance of the six models about the kinship terminology which was established by G.P.Murdock.We can have a whole picture of the kinship terminology of Han nationality and Tibetan nationality through these descriptions, statistical results and categories. Subsequently, the author, in two directions, analyzed more deeply the various social factors that affect the kinship terminology of Han nationality and Tibetan nationality: Firstly, the effect of consanguineous, marital form on the kinship terminology; Secondly, the effect of patriarchal clan system, sable hierarchism, the custom of designating relatives following the son, inhabition mode, working modes, notion of welth, etc. This paper concluded that the factors affecting the kinship terminology of Tibetan nationality are: Firstly, its cross-cousin marriage, parallel cousin marriage, consanguineous marriage; Secondly, its specific custom of sexual behavior; Thirdly, its nomadism, while the factors affecting the kinship terminology of Han nationality are: Firstly, its cross-cousin marriage and sororate; Secondly, the custom of designating relatives following the son; Thirdly, its ecesis life. The analysis revealed that consanguineous and marital form can not explain all of the kinship terminology, and some of the kinship terminology have to be explained in other ways. There are two reasons that may caused this phenomenon. The first one may be that the kinship terminology have experienced great change, so they can not be explained by the consanguineous and marital form. The second one may be that the kinship terminology are not originally decided or affected by consanguineous and marital form.
