On The Present Situation And Strategy Of Physical Education Teachers' Scientific Research In Colleges And Universities In Hubei Province

Physical education is an important part of higher education. Apart from completing the basic teaching task, Physical education teachers should also do some scientific research to promote the development of physical education. Hence, teaching and doing research should be the dual ability of physical education teachers.By taking the physical education teachers in the 67 colleges and universities in Hubei province as research object, and by means of document reference. questionnaire investigation and statistics, this paper tries to give an analysis on the purpose and attitude of physical education teachers' scientific research, the situation of registered teachers, the administration system of scientific research, the sources of expenditure, the quantity and quality of academic paper, the application of the achievements in scientific research, thus puts up some suggestions for the future development of physical education. The result of the research is like the following:The distribution of research items of colleges and universities is unbalanced. The achievements of scientific research of physical education teachers in the 5 years are of high quantity but low quality. The field of research is narrow and there is still room for the improvement of the application of the achievements of scientific research.For most of the physical education teachers, the purpose of doing research is for technical title. Their attitude of doing research is not active enough. On the methods of doing research, document reference is often used in collecting materials; Logic is often used in processing materials; But statistics are seldom used inanalysing materials.The characteristic of physical education teachers in colleges and universities is like the following: In the structure of academic degree, masters and doctors are of 9.93%, a little higher than the average level of our country, but a big gap to the required level; In the structure of academic title, the senior, intermediate and junior develop in proportion, as 3:4:2; in the structure of age, teachers of middle and youth age are of great proportion.The English level of most of the physical education teachers is rather low. They can't check out English materials or have communications with the physical education teachers in other countries. Low English Level is also the main obstacle which prevents teachers from doing further research for master or doctor degree. In the using of computers, the teachers who have their personal computers are only of 37.92% and their using of computers only confines to typing and surfing on the Internet. Most of them are not familiar with the other usage of the computer.For most of the colleges and universities their requirement for physical education teachers' research work is nether light, but the administration of the physical education teachers' scientific research is in a state of no aim, no purpose, no research group and no expenditure. Research materials are of low quantity and lack management. Material Rewards are not enough and the Laboratories that can promote the achievements of scientific research are quite limited.
